Ramadan is the ninth month of the Islamic calendar in which Muslims observe fasting. Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islamic preaching. This month is greeted with the heart filled with peace, harmony and joy. It is this time of the year when we repent of our wrongdoings and sins.

Fasting between dawn to dusk entails abstinence from consuming food, drinks, smoking, lying, cheating, foul language and sexual relations. It is a month for contemplation and prayers; it is the time for us to learn to always walk humbly, talk politely, dress neatly, treat kindly, pray attentively, and donate generously. It is a month of blessings, when the faithful engage in giving to charity, ask for forgiveness and pray for almighty’s blessings. In this month, it is believed the gates of Paradise are opened and Allah (subhan wa tallah) blesses us with His bounties. May Allah (swt) enable us all to reap His blessings and guide us throughout our journey in life, Ameen.
