The book was written by a Malay intellectual and scholar Naqib Al Attas in the late 60s on the demand of the youth community which he was dynamically associated with. Originally it is Islam and Secularism and contains some of the lectures he delivered on different occasions. As a matter of fact, this is most fundamental study on the subject of secularism that a Muslim scholar has ever undertaken and it can safely be said that it is the most authentic book on the subject so far in the entire Islamic land. We have tried our level best to make more understandable while translating. The book introduces fundamental principles on which the west has compromised leading to the emergence of secular attitude and thinking. He cautions the Muslims not to be swayed away while dealing with secular west. It’s a worth read for serious learners.
